How Promix key components and process solutions help reduce the CO₂ footprint

Foamed thermal insulation of hot water pipes is essential for effective energy use. Promix Solutions is involved in a European New Horizon project that aims to replace the environmentally harmful blowing agent iso-butane used in conventional production with environmentally neutral CO₂.

Plastic in the sea is undisputedly a major problem. An alternative for disposable packaging is the use of biopolymers that degrade quickly in nature. A well-known raw materials manufacturer is working on the development of cellulose-based biopolymers for precisely such environmentally friendly packaging solutions. Thanks to Promix Microcell foam technology and the resulting larger surface area, the packaging degrades in a very short time after use without leaving any residues that are harmful to nature. Up to 30% less raw material usage and a resulting increase in competitiveness are important additional effects.

With Promix Microcell Technology, extruded film and sheets, pipes and profiles can be produced with an average of 20% less plastic. Thanks to the special Microcell Technology, this is achieved without any significant reduction in mechanical properties. Recyclability is also fully retained. With more than 300 Promix systems in industrial applications, this results in total savings of around 260,000 tons of CO₂ per year. And every year more and more!
